Helpful Hints for Consigning at Persnickety's

To receive your full 40%, you must follow these guidelines.
Accounts requiring excessive maintenance will be charged accordingly.

  1. Please remember to WASH/CLEAN your items before bringing them in. Persnickety’s does not wash/clean items for you. Unclean items will be returned to consignor.
  2. Check over your items and make sure they are in like-new condition. Things to look for are:
    • Stains, even very small ones
    • Holes/tears (jeans somewhat worn or frayed at the bottom may be acceptable)
    • Deodorant marks or stains
    • Ring around the collar
    • Grease stains (appears as a darkening on the fabric)
    • Too much wear or wash (faded, bally)
    • Lint/animal fur
    • Odors: smoky or moth balls (generic sprays work well at removing smoke smells)
    • Out of style (needs to have been bought NEW within the past 2 years; we do not take “vintage” style clothing)
    • Missing/non-workable parts (missing main buttons, broken zippers,…)
    • Out of season (See/call store for seasonal dates)
    • Scuff marks…on shoes
    • Toys must have working batteries
    • Muscial or talking stuffed animals are acceptable (stuffed animals that don't do anything are NOT accepted)
  3. We prefer that you bring your clothing in on hangers and may even provide some replacement hangers for you at the time of drop off. If you bring your items in cardboard boxes, please keep them small-medium sized. Large boxes are NOT acceptable. Please put your name on all boxes. You may bring your items in Rubbermaid type containers, but please put your name on them! We will call you when we are finished unpacking your container, but please pick your container up within one month of the time of drop-off. Containers not picked up after one month will become the property of Persnickety’s. Garbage bags are NOT allowed!

The goal of Persnickety’s is to insure quality consigned clothing and accessories to the public at a budgeted price. Please be considerate of our staff and our buyers when bringing in your items to consign. We will request that the consignor pick up any unacceptable items, but if the consignor does not do so in a timely manner, the items will be donated to a local charity. Persnickety’s retains the right to no longer allow someone to consign with us if items are habitually/horrendously unacceptable. (We do understand a few over-looked flaws, but bringing in noticeably worn/torn/stained/dirty items is inconsiderate.) Please remember that we are not a charitable drop-off station.

Happy Consigning!
